Let's show them how to be 'strong like a woman!'
Women who make the courageous decision to leave an abusive relationship to start rebuilding their lives embody what it means to be strong like a woman. Did you know that the Calgary Police respond to 2 domestic violence-related calls every hour of the day? November is Family Violence Prevention Month in Alberta and in our mission to end domestic violence, Discovery House, Brenda Strafford Centre and Sonshine Community Services will join forces to create awareness and raise funds for the ‘Strong Like a Woman’ campaign this November.
With your help, from November 1 to November 30, 2021, these three long-term women’s shelters are partnering with fitness studios, who will run a "Strong Like a Woman" class to raise both awareness of family violence and the much-needed funds to support the women and children affected. These shelters offer a continuum of care and a safe space for women and children to live away from their abuser so they can begin to rebuild their lives.
How does it work?
• Studio promotes the campaign at their studio and social media channels • They host one or more classes throughout November • Our team promotes the studio and class(es) through our social media channels!
The funds raised by the studio will
• Support families get back to their feet as they heal from domestic violence
