Apply just once for second-stage shelter with Discovery House, The Heart Home Network, and Radiance Society.
Discovery House is part of the The Shared Intake Program. This is a collaboration between all three of Calgary’s second-stage shelters: The Heart Home Network, Radiance Society, and Discovery House. You only need to apply once and are placed on a single waitlist until a unit becomes available in one of the three shelters.

Discovery House’s Second-stage Shelter
Discovery House’s second-stage shelter is a secure, unmarked 19-apartment building with underground parking, 24-hour security, shared laundry, counselling spaces, a cultural healing space and more. One apartment in the building was recently renovated to be accessible to individuals with limited mobility such as wheelchair users.
The community spaces include:
- A secure outdoor courtyard, with a playground, community garden, and seating area
- A community room where residents and staff can gather for community events, meetings or programs
- A community kitchen
- A safe and secure child development centre with toys, books, and craft supplies
- An art room where creativity and colour come together with therapy
I am grateful for all the support I received during my stay at the shelter. I am so used to seeing you guys and feel like you are not only doing your job but you are part of my family.
